In the final episode of this four part series titled Taking Inventory, I invite you to consider what you need and/or want to let go of in order to make room for what’s next in the coming year. After spending time taking inventory you have some indicators on your list of What’s Not Working Well and your list of comparison of To Do vs. To Be to help you discern what needs to go.
I read the wise words of Jesus from The Message:
Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me–watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.
In order for you to receive what’s next, you need to let go what you have been holding tightly. Growth and change is like this. You can’t both stay the same, do things the same way, and expect to grow and do things differently. You have to make a choice.
I also read my favorite poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost which is all about choices. In the last stanza Frost writes:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
