Today I want to disspell the myth that creativity belongs only to artists who sell their art. That was the definition I believed for years. This very narrow definition kept me from identifying myself as creative. It also kept me from playing with art materials and simply having fun.
What if you and I learn to accept the truth that we are all created in the image of God and because God is creative so are we?
Simply.Be.Creative.
I’ve been reworking my definition with the help of others’ creative words. One such author is Christine Aroney-Sine. Her book title The Gift of Wonder is filled with creative practices for delighting in God.
In the episode I read from Chapter 9 “Rest in the Moment”. Here are the first words:
Let us sit in this moment of God’s creating.
Rest in its uniqueness; savor its potential.
It is pregnant with new possibilities
If you’re drawn by the idea of you being creative but don’t know what form that might take, I invite your questions and curiosity. Reach out to connect and we can explore what your creative image bearing looks like!
